She says

Esme has become a little babbling brook, a definite chatter box in the making. Some of it is not decipherable although she says it with gusto and looks at you expecting you to understand the rapid-fire sentences she's pumping out.

However, increasingly she is building a real vocabulary. She has quite a few words she uses on a regular basis. Not all are said perfectly correctly but they are repeated the same way each time she uses that word.

Her first words were dog and duck (first words other than Mama and Dada, that is). Dog sounds more like 'doe'; and Duck sounds like rapidly repeating 'dudu'

Then came Blueberry (which is a favourite fruit of hers).. it sounds more like 'laddlela'... focusing heavily on the 'L's. But she says it the same way each time so it's definitely her word for blueberry.

After that Baby .. said like 'BayBee" almost like a southern drawl. And Bubble became a favourite word, when we used them to distract her from the earring cleaning process.

Her current, most used word is Please.. said as almost a whisper 'pea' or 'peas' over and over again while signing please and often while pointing at the drawer she knows holds arrowroot biscuits.

She says 'tootoo' for Train. 'Kaka' is for Cracker or Cookie interchangeably. 'Moe' is sometimes used for More but she finds that signing is faster and more effective at getting More quickly.

First sentence was 'Moe pea' (more please). We've only heard that combo once. She loves to say 'Hi' and 'Bye'. Especially loves to say 'Bye' (it sounds more like Buyeee) while waving. She says that to Alain at night before bed.

Esme also imitates words and has copied more difficult words that we say to her but says them so quickly and doesn't repeat them so it's hard to remember all of them. My favourite was 'garbage truck'.

Just wanted to make sure I wrote these all down somewhere before they were forgotten as Esme moves on to bigger and better words.

Because I Can...

A photo post just because i'm now able to post quickly and with ease. Smile :)

Blurred because she is constantly in motion but so happy I couldn't resist posting
